November 18, 2015: WHY THE SANTA ANA ZOO IS GREAT!
You may sometimes wonder, "Why is The Santa Ana Zoo great? What makes it such a special place to visit?" After spending much time at the Zoo and talking with the keepers, I've come up with several good answers. To start with, the animals receive excellent care and are well-adjusted to their homes. There is even a successful breeding program in place. Being accredited by The Association of Zoo and Aquariums requires the Zoo to follow high standards that put it above many other zoos. This program also allows the Zoo to trade their animals with other AZA accredited zoos, which means we also get animals from places that take good care of their animals. The Zoo even participates in The Species Survival Plan Program to help manage the population of threatened and endangered animals. The education that is offered at the Zoo is like no other, with a diverse collection of animals to hands on exhibits. When visiting the Santa Ana Zoo, I am welcomed by the great staff and notice how passionate they are to the Zoo. The short wait lines, and no need for planning for an entire day to visit is a relief. I can see the animals close up without the need for binoculars. Many zoos with larger animals require a large area for the animals to be kept. This is why binoculars are often needed to see them. The last thing is the wonderful slate of attractions: events, rides, and quality of food offered the entire year for the whole family to enjoy. Remember, the memories you make with your family last forever, and the Santa Ana Zoo is a great place to create them.

October 11, 2015: HALLOWEEN AT THE SANTA ANA ZOO
Have you been to the Santa Ana Zoo at Halloween time? If you are the parent of small children, this is definitely the place to be. While other places with Halloween events for children offer mainly candy, Boo at the Zoo, the Halloween event at the Santa Ana Zoo, offers alternatives to candy, such as juice boxes, DVD's, stuffed animals and more. Most children get plenty of candy from trick-or-treating or other events. I would not want my children to eat so much candy. Boo at the Zoo also features activities and educational information for children of all ages. The event is not too scary for the little ones with a low admission cost compared to other Halloween events in the area. And remember the Friends of Santa Ana Zoo is a nonprofit organization.

See You There!
