Cathi Decker, Executive Director
Cathi Decker developed her skills from previous positions at Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, SeaWorld and her director's position with of one of the largest animal rescue non-profits in Southern California. Her broad business background blends seamlessly with her passion for animals and the community to lead the Zoo into the next decade. She received her undergraduate degree with honors in Communications from the University of California, San Diego. She went on to participate in two graduate programs. The first was the Masters of Public Relations and Advertising program at California State Fullerton. The second was the Business Management and Fundraising program at the University of California, Irvine. Cathi is a long time participant and presenter at numerous AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) national conferences. She is an Advisory Member for the AZA Advancement Committee and the Chair of the AZA Partner Directors. She also is a respected member of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions). Cathi is a Santa Ana resident and has been with the Zoo since 1996.

Kevin Jackson, Director of Operations
Kevin Jackson, Director of Operations, brings Zoo Operations experience and Tourist Industry and Restaurant experience since the early 2000's to the Zoo. He has also volunteered with animal rescue groups and helped with animal habitat maintenance projects. Kevin has received certification from the State Inspectors as a Train and Carrousel operator and trainer as well as certification from the Aims Safety Seminar in Orlando, Florida. He's led numerous training sessions at the Zoo for rides, safety, and first aid. Keeping the rides at the Santa Ana Zoo safe and operational at all times is one of his best skills.

Tom Decker, Director of Communications & Technology
Tom Decker, Director of Communications & Technology, earned a B.S. in Information & Computer Science from UC Irvine and has taken post-graduate courses in management, fundraising, and grant writing. He has over 20 years experience in project management with Producer, Designer, and/or Writing credits for over 30 computer and board games. His grants written for the Zoo have generated substantial income for Zoo projects, education programs, and the animals.

Vanessa Anderson, Office and Accounting Manager
Vanessa Anderson, Office and Accounting Manager, has been handling office administration and finance with the Friends of Santa Ana Zoo since 2000. She also has 6 Years Lead Animal Keeper experience from the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA and 4 years experience in wild horse rescue and other animal rescue groups. She also attended the AZA management school in West Virginia and has taken courses in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and office management.

Paris Devantier, Assistant Manager of Membership & Events
Paris Devantier, Assistant Manager of Membership & Events, earned her B.S. in Ecology, Behavior and Evolution from UCLA. While attending school, she volunteered and worked at the Aquarium of the Pacific. After receiving her degree, she furthered her education in animal behavior and conservation while developing experience in exotic animal care through internships at both Emerald Forest Bird Gardens and EFBC's Feline Conservation Center. Before joining FOSAZ, Paris worked in exotic animal nutrition at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. She is an aspiring aviculturist with a particular interest in toucans.

Bryan Solis, Assistant Manager of Membership Ambassadors
Bryan Solis, Assistant Manager of Membership Ambassadors, has over five years experience of working and volunteering with Friends of Santa Ana Zoo and various non-profit organizations in the Orange County area. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Bryan also has a certificate from the Dale Carnegie Teen Leadership and Communication Course and was the American Red Cross President at his high school four consecutive years.

Kathy Heyne, Assistant Manager on Duty
Kathy Heyne, Assistant Manager on Duty, comes to the Zoo from a strong retail background, including positions at Jo-Ann, Apple One, and Mervyn's. She also worked at the Orange County Fair and Event Center for over ten years working in the exhibit areas. She has experience with Girl Scout programs and provided support for the annual Christmas boutique, book fair, school carnival, as well as helping teachers as a PTA volunteer.

De'Jean Lark, Assistant Manager & Inventory Controller
De'Jean Lark, Assistant Manager & Inventory Controller, graduated from Concordia University Irvine with a Bachelor's in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology. He has conducted various biological research with wildlife such as researching the cognitive learning abilities between wild and captive Green Anoles and evaluating the temperature it takes for Blue mussels to gape in and out of water. He also has taken many courses involving wildlife such as: Zoology, Marine Biology, Plant Biology, and Genetics. De'Jean was a student athlete playing basketball at the collegiate level for the Concordia Eagles. He previously worked at Target where he was an electronics salesman and also a trainer to new employees. In his spare time, he also trains and coaches kids in basketball throughout the Orange County area.

Marissa Heyne, Assistant Manager on Duty
Marissa Heyne, Assistant Manager on Duty, has six years of experience as an Assistant Manager at Starlight Cinemas. She also has two years of volunteer experience doing bird surveys in Chino Hills for Least Bell's Vireos and Willow Flycatchers as well as one year working with field biologists doing age structure studies on endangered California Least Terns in San Diego. She is currently attending California State University Fullerton for a Bachelors in Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Evolution. Marissa is working on publishing her first scientific paper with field biologists regarding the use of field readable alphanumeric bands being read by action sport cameras to minimize the amount of disturbance capture-recapture studies can cause.
