SANTA ANA ZOO LOCATIONS SEEN IN "OLD DOGS!"

Our local Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park was used as a location spot for Disney's upcoming film, "Old Dogs," although not as the "Santa Ana Zoo." The front entrance was replaced with signs for the "Burlington Zoo," and the Amazon's Edge exhibit, currently home to the Zoo's Howler Monkeys, was converted into a gorilla exhibit for the movie.

Also, portions of the Zoo's under-construction Tierra de las Pampas exhibit were transformed into a penguin exhibit. Although movie magic has altered these exhibits, guests visiting the Santa Ana Zoo will recognize many of the Burlington Zoo locations from "Old Dogs." "Old Dogs" is slated for a November 25 release date in theaters everywhere.

HONORING A PROFESSION OF DEDICATION:
National Zoo Keeper Week

In recognition of the dedication of zoo keepers and aquarists, the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) and zoos and aquariums across the nation celebrate National Zoo Keeper Week July 19-25.

During this exciting week, zookeepers at the Santa Ana Zoo will be hosting daily "Keeper Talks" at various animal exhibits to highlight different aspects of their jobs and to share information about the Zoo's animals. The Zookeepers have also selected some "Zookeeper Picks" in the gift shop to give Zoo guests some shopping ideas.

"The American Association of Zookeepers is excited to announce National Zoo Keeper Week," said Shane Good, President of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, inc. "This national celebration is in recognition of Zoo keepers, aquarists, and the animal care professionals in our nation's zoological parks and aquariums. Zookeepers serve as animal care experts, frontline educators, and conservationists. We are proud to have zookeepers recognized for the important work they do on behalf of wildlife and conservation."

Created by AAZK, Inc, National Zoo Keeper Week is celebrated each year beginning on the third Sunday in July. During the week, zoos nationwide honor animal care professionals and the work they do in animal care, conservation, and education. There are approximately 6,000 animal care professionals in the United States.

The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), a non-profit volunteer organization made up of professional zookeepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation. The mission of AAZK is to advance excellence in the zoo keeping profession, foster effective communication beneficial to animal care, support deserving conservation projects, and promote the preservation of our natural resources and animal life.
