Dear Zoo Supporter,
The Holiday Season Is Here! As you make up your gift list this year, do you have space for one more item? The new grassland animals at the Zoo are having a hard time because of this economy. The Zoo needs your gift to help prepare these wonderful animals for the Grand Opening of their new home, Tierra de las Pampas, on April 17, 2010, and contribute to their upkeep for the year. The last time you were here at the Zoo you may have noticed the construction going on. These preparations are being made for our brand-new two-acre setting that will captivate and transport our visitors to the grasslands of South America. This multi-species exhibit features rheas, guanacos and a pair of giant anteaters representing the animals of Argentina.
Your contribution to the 2009 Annual Appeal will help these animals get ready for their new home!
$50 will provide these baby rheas with food for two months. Rheas feed on roots, tender leaves and insects.
$75 will help provide these guanacos with environmentally adapted pens. These pens will help the animals feel more comfortable in their new larger home.
$100 will contribute toward the new habitat for our anteater pair and their future offspring.
And every cent YOU give will go directly to the Zoo and the Grassland Animals.
Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, the Zoo is flourishing.
This past year, we have seen:
- The addition of a new Monkey Area to house our “More Than 50 Monkeys” requirement.
- Updated two Zoo directional maps.
- Completion of the two shade structures for the Train and Carrousel.
- The addition of new animals: Eagle, Blue-Crowned Mot Mot, seven baby Rheas.
With YOUR help, we can continue providing an opportunity for the families of the community to learn about endangered species and rare breed animals.

Thank you,
